Workplace Health and Safety → Work health and safety regime → State/territory and federal WHS legislation variations
Overview

Margaret Diamond, General Counsel; Sophie Redmond, Executive Counsel; Greg Robertson, General Counsel, Harmers Workplace Lawyers

The national harmonisation initiative does not equate with national uniformity of work health and safety legislation. Where a state or territory has passed mirror legislation implementing the Model Work Health and Safety legislation (Model legislation), the mirror legislation has been consistent with the terms of the Model legislation. There are, however, some variations between the Model legislation and the mirror legislation. This also applies in respect of the federal mirror legislation.
