Meyers V Commissioner For Social Housing

Supreme Court of the Australian Capital Territory

Judgment Date:
2018-08-13

Abstract:
The Supreme Court of Australian Capital Territory (ACTSC) has refused to award damages claimed by a public housing resident for injuries suffered after he had been mauled by two dogs kept by visitors of a neighboring tenant. The ACTSC found that the State and the Commissioner for Social Housing did not owe the resident a duty of care to prevent him from suffering injuries from dogs.
