Abstract:
The New South Wales Supreme Court has sentenced a former Minister for Mineral Resources (Minister) and a former mining union official, for offences in respect of the allocation of a coal resource at Doyles Creek. The Minister was convicted of wilful misconduct in public office and was sentenced to 10 years' imprisonment with a non-parole period of seven years. The union official was convicted of being an accessory before the fact and was sentenced to 6 years' imprisonment with a non-parole period of four years.
